Visual Journaling

As an artist who recently started painting again I found the video on visual journaling refreshing. One point that stood out to me was that as we spend more time inside, isolated from others our stimulus value continues to decrease. This is something that I noticed, however I didn’t process the experience with that perspective. I have found myself in the past couple of weeks looking for “new stimulus”.

Another point that Jason had made was part of his creative process. The series of blind contour and continuous line drawings that he uses to enhance his creative experience, remove pretense, and as a mental break while working inspired me to do the same. In the past I’ve doodled continuous line drawings, for Prof. Forsyth’s 3D course I filled a sketchbook with continuous line drawings. However, I did so because I misunderstood an assignment but the experience was liberating.

I agree that people in general are experiencing fatigue from a change in routine, we spend hours at the computer and in front of screen. I’ve recently noticed myself leaving my phone in random places or turning it off just to get away from the constant buzz of notifications.
